The images on the security screens are grainy and distorted, creating a real sense of dread as you struggle to make out just what is going on, while one room only has audio access and which further ramps up the tension.
While this might not sound terribly scary, in reality Five Nights at Freddy's is a genuinely unsettling but hugely enjoyable game, thanks to its minimalist approach, intense atmosphere and brooding visuals.
